Albuquerque’s CRTTRZ bring all our favorite math concepts and bands into one big bang effect of timeless creation. The record opens in a dirty grungy tension which is memorable of the 90’s. A skramz angst really breaks into some great licks and sharpened crust attitude screams. Harmonies litter the backdrop as though the soothing is in the way of the tanturmest release which becomes the track. The tight snare, and inner implied push and pulls melt indie, emo, and even the psychedelic hypnotic looping of bands like The Doors.
Travails Part. II swiftly changes the record’s direction with a much more composed and easy listening experience. Doublehand tapping runs through more note filled phrasings like Patchwork Natives and then goes into a TTNG mysterious and very brightly colored melody that opens up room for the entire band to swell onwards with spot on Indie rock or prog-popish vocal harmonies. You can hear bands like boyfrndz and Feuding Fathers kind of invading the track until its resting place.
Travails Part. III sounds like a drunken rodeo where clowns fight bulls and cowboys distract them. Everything about this track is upside down and mid-western in personality and delivery. Having the thrash aspect the track hits some great pop-punk lines aswell as more Celtic and jazz chord founded progressions on guitar. I love how the song is in its own world and nature sounding different from the skramz styling of part. I.
